On June 21 st, Burt Rutan and his team at Scaled Composites will attempt to send SpaceShipOne to the altitude of 62 miles (100 kilometers). This just 6 months after the ships first flight on December 17, 2003 (the 100th anniversary of the Wright Bros. First flight)
The ships second flight was on May 13 and recorded an altitude of 64.4 kilometers.
Brother Jack has been posting over at Gone East the events of this venture as they happen. I thought I would beet him to the post with this announcement post.
I have been following the Ansari X Prize contest myself since 1998, when I first herd of the competition.
